Searching for patents filed in languages other than English.
To make sure no relevant patent issued in French, German, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Spanish or Italian is missed simply because nobody searched in that language.
By searching foreign-language patent databases using native-language keywords, and translating the results — including with online translation services where appropriate for a first pass.
Well-known options include KIPRIS and WIPS for Korea, Patentics and HimmPat for China, and ULTRA Patent for Japan.
